Many patterns that you can use to process the tones of every scale you will use to improvise in certain chord progressions. But I strongly suggest you practice a fairly simple pattern sequence. Yes it will make you get used to playing a simple scale but sound is very rich in nuance. Try the C Major scale. Practice the following pattern: The pattern of three tone sequences (CDE - DEF - EFG - FGA etc ...) If you're already fluent in several positions then try your guitar fret. After that the next step is to train four tone sequence patterns.
